Tell San Diego County to adopt the
“Fire Safe and VMT Efficient Alternative”
in the Climate Action Plan
Wall-of-Fire-San-Diego
Tomorrow, June 14, the County Planning Commission will make its recommendation to the County Board of Supervisors on the long anticipated Climate Action Plan.
Sierra Club and the Endangered Habitats League supports the FIRE SAFE AND VMT EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE described in the Environmental Impact Report.
Why is this important?
- restrict development in the high and very high wildfire zones,
- reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions,
- lower air pollution,
- decrease traffic and lower Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT), and
- preserve wildlands and endangered species.
You can help! Send a message to the Planning Commission to support the FIRE SAFE AND VMT EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE.
Be sure to select the “oppose” position.
Here is some suggested language:
Dear Planning Commissioners,
Thank you for this opportunity to provide comments on the San Diego County Climate Action Plan. Please adopt one of the alternative smart growth plans called the Fire Safe and VMT Efficient Alternative as the primary plan. The plan would: restrict development in the high and very high wildfire zones, reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, lower air pollution, reduce traffic, and preserve wildlands and endangered species.
Thank you
Help us communicate to the Board that we want the “Fire Safe and VMT Efficient Alternative” adopted.
