Bicycle Section of the Sierra Club Ride Calendar
This is a partial listing of our outings. The complete list along with our trips and social events is available to all members. See Membership Form. All outings listed are free of charge and open to public participation unless otherwise noted. If weather is questionable, contact the leader.
REQUIRED FOR ALL RIDES: Helmet, water, spare tube, pump and patch kit.
All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver.

January 6 – SUNDAY
NORTH COUNTY SUNDAY RIDE
Difficulty Rating: 21 to 35 mi, rolling hills.
The 1st, 2nd & 5th Sunday of each month, meet at 9 am at the Carmel Valley Community Center, 3777 Townsgate Drive, across the street from the Del Mar Highlands Shopping Center, 1/2 mi E of I-5. Route & leaders vary each week. Come for the social pace of this ride. Rain cancels. Leader: Ron Manherz, 858-587-0272.
January 6 – SUNDAY
RANCHO SANTA FE-CARLSBAD-ENCINITAS JUNIOR EXPRESS RIDE
Difficulty Rating: over 35 mi, moderate hills, 12-14 mph average pace.
CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN Meet at 8:45 am at Carmel Valley Community Center, 3777 Townsgate Dr., for a scenic 43 mi ride through Rancho Santa Fe, Carlsbad and Encinitas with a snack stop in Solana Beach on our coastal return. Leader: Myles Pomeroy, 858-565-7262, Mobile: 619-246-1893.
January 8 – TUESDAY
TACO TUESDAY COAST RIDE
Difficulty Rating: 21 to 35 mi, rolling hills, 10-12 mph average pace.
This relatively flat 25 mi ride starts at 10:30 am track-side of the Coaster at the Oceanside Transit Center and ends at the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station at around 1:45 pm. Most participants will drive to the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station (free parking) arriving at about 9:30 am to provide enough time to take Coaster #639 north-bound at 9:48 am which arrives at the Oceanside Transit Center at 10:23 am. OLYMPIC – OTAY EXPRESS RIDE
Difficulty Rating: over 35 mi, moderate hills, 12-14 mph average pace.
Meet at 8:45 am at the Old Town Transit Center off Taylor & PCH; park off PCH in the big lot. We’ll ride ~ 50 mi south to Chula Vista then to Olympic Training center and onto Otay Lakes road and Bonita bike path. Not too much climbing (1 mi at 4.6% grade) with some nice downhill. Snack stop TBD. Rain cancels so call if uncertain. Leader: Dawn Nowlin, 858-254-8171.

Meet at 8:30 am at DeAnza Cove in Mission Bay Park for a 40 mi loop out the Hwy 56 bike path. Rain cancels. Leader: David Johnson, 858-483-5877.

MISSION BAY-SEAPORT VILLAGE-BIKE ART
Difficulty Rating: 21 to 35 mi, rolling hills, 10-12 mph average pace.
This 25 mi flat social ride goes from Mission Bay to Shelter Island to Seaport Village for a snack stop then on to the free ôI Love to Ride My Bicycleö exhibit across from the Santa Fe Depot at SDSUÆs Downtown Gallery. On the 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month, join us for the Sunday Ride starting from Mission Bay. Meet at 9 am in the parking lot immediately north of the Mission Bay Visitor Center.
