Celebrate Labor Day with a 25 mi ride, cool off in Marty and Ronæs pool and partake in a potluck feast. Meet at 9:30 am at 6182 Radcliffe Dr., in University City. Drop off your potluck dish, something to Bar-B-Q, your swimsuit and towel. BYOB. Ride through University City and UCSD to be back by 12:30 for swim and potluck. Join our Sunday social ride with a special chance to visit the Annual Greek Festival at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. Bring a bike lock plus money for lunch, $3.00-entry fee, and all the olives, feta, and pita you can eat, while enjoying Greek music and dancing. This relatively flat 25 mi ride starts at 10:30 am track-side of the Coaster at the Oceanside Transit Center and ends at the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station at around 1:45 pm. Most participants will drive to the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station (free parking) arriving at about 9:30 am to provide enough time to take Coaster #639 north-bound at 9:48 am which arrives at the Oceanside Transit Center at 10:23 am. CORONADO JR EXPRESS RIDE
Difficulty Rating: over 35 mi, basically flat, 12-14 mph average pace.
Join me for a Jr. Express ride where fast riders can get their workout, while I’ll keep pace with the slowest riders. Meet at 8:45 am in the De Anza Cove parking lot of Mission Bay Park for a ~36 mi ride to Coronado island. We’ll stop at Pepper Park then continue onto the Bayshore Bikeway and Silver Strand. Meet at 8:45 am at the Carmel Valley Park and Ride lot located at 12791 Sorrento Valley Rd just west of I-5 for a 35-40 mi ride. Heading south to UCSD via the Genesee bridge then south to the new Gilman arched bridge over I-5 to UTC area.
